About This Collection

For centuries, the Noto Peninsula has been known for its fishing communities, dramatic coastline, traditional festivals, and craftsmanship that reflect a uniquely enduring way of life.

When these photographs were taken in 2012, the region remained largely unchanged, preserving landscapes and everyday scenes that had evolved over generations. Many of these places—including parts of Wajima Morning Market and surrounding communities—were profoundly affected by the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake.

Rather than focusing on the disaster itself, this collection preserves what came before: peaceful harbors, quiet coastal roads, traditional markets, rural villages, and the timeless scenery that defined the northern reaches of Ishikawa Prefecture.

More than a travel photography collection, these images serve as a visual archive of a cultural landscape whose appearance has since changed, preserving memories of the Noto Peninsula for future generations.
